Director of Digital Curation and Preservation
Matt Schultz is the Director of Digital Curation and Preservation for Educopia Institute where he provides facilitation for Educopia’s Affiliated Communities that are focused on curation and preservation—the MetaArchive Cooperative and the BitCurator Consortium. He works with leaders in these Communities and the team at Educopia to develop services and engage in ongoing research, development, and documentation of best practices for their mutual benefit and the advancement of the field. In addition to his role at Educopia, Schultz is a proud member of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Nation—one of Michigan’s 12 federally-recognized tribes. He works independently with statewide community partners on issues of indigenous data sovereignty and transitional justice. Schultz is proud to be working for and with Educopia as a non-profit that values and encourages social and economic justice and promotes a supportive and equitable culture for labor in the fields of libraries, archives, and museums.
