Senior Consultant & Project Manager

*This is an exempt position. Employees in this position are paid a salary on a monthly basis and are not eligible to receive overtime pay.

Job Description:

The Senior Consultant & Project Manager will provide top-quality client facing consulting services and project management support for Educopia’s consulting portfolio. This role will apply their previous experience as a consultant and expertise in organizational development, community cultivation, and facilitation to produce a variety of deliverables for client projects. This role will be tasked with mapping projects out from inception, and will also be responsible for their oversight and implementation. The Senior Consultant & Project Manager will be expected to articulate how they center equity in their consultative and facilitation work, be well-versed on important sustainability and information management challenges facing organizations today, and will be expected to apply that knowledge to the ways they design and implement projects. They will be expected to set and meet deadlines, and to communicate clearly and promptly with both clients and our internal team. The ideal candidate will also be a self-starter who enjoys independence and variety in their work, and they will share our passionate belief in the importance of collaboration and community cultivation. We expect all candidates to demonstrate empathy and intentionality in their interpersonal communications.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate complex multi-stakeholder engagements, and mechanisms for maintaining engagement and alignment among stakeholders over time
  • Maintain a diverse portfolio of projects of varied lengths and complexity; support and coordinate a team of consultants in timely completion of client based projects
  • Identify consulting opportunities and prepare proposals
  • Develop scopes of work based on prospective client intake interviews
  • Stay informed and up-to-date on alignment and facilitation tools and techniques;  trends in the information landscape likely to exert force for change within collectives and organizations; research on group dynamics, organizational development, social learning & group sensemaking, and decision making; participatory action/community-based research tools and approaches 
  • Conduct issue-based research and synthesize information to provide strategic and policy recommendations to project partners as well as clients
  • Craft briefings, emails, reports and deliverables for clients as needed

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of consulting experience; client-facing experience included
  • Committed to centering the voices of minoritized and marginalized identities
  • Knowledge and experience designing, coordinating, and facilitating complex multi-stakeholder engagements, and mechanisms for maintaining engagement and alignment among stakeholders over time
  • Knowledge of and experience with cultivation activities such as governance modeling, sustainability planning, stakeholder mapping, theory of change development/logic modeling, strategic planning, program evaluation, group visioning and/or recalibration of mission-vision-values
  • Knowledge of facilitation and planning frameworks such as Emergent Strategy, Real Time Strategic Planning, Appreciative Inquiry
  • Experience with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets and other Office equivalents)
  • Experience with web-based tools for facilitation such as JamBoard, Miro, GroupMap, Zoom polling
  • Experience with project management tools such as Asana, Notion, Airtable
  • Curious and willing to research and constantly learn

Compensation

Base salary is $70,000/year, commensurate with experience. Benefits include 24 vacation days per year (accruing monthly) and 10 paid holidays, as well as insurance options and retirement match options. The person hired in this role will also be provided with a technology stipend to set up their remote workspace.

Work Environment

Educopia Institute is a fully distributed team, and this position will work remotely. We communicate daily via Slack, Zoom, Google Video, Google Docs, and email. Mondays are typically observed as quiet days. Team meetings are held weekly via Zoom in order to learn together, workshop a topic or a challenge, to reflect, to plan, and otherwise connect. Smaller groups within the team trade off coordination and agenda setting for team meetings each quarter. One week per quarter, the team clears their calendars of meetings to observe a “quiet week” in order to catch-up, go heads down on a project, and/or engage in professional development.
