Overview

Over the last decade, Educopia Institute designed and refined a Community Cultivation Framework that guides our organizational development practices. The framework serves as a throughline across Educopia’s work to provide ways for communities to understand, evaluate, and plan their own maturation.

The Community Cultivation Framework maps organizations across two layers: Lifecycle Stages and Growth Areas. The lifecycle stages operate on a continuum and reflect the core questions communities tend to grapple with at each stage of maturation. The second layer of the Framework applies five key growth areas across a community’s development. Taken together, these two layers provide a powerful mechanism for understanding a community’s needs.

Applying the Community Cultivation Framework to our research and consulting, we have created processes, training, facilitation techniques, and tools with holistic pathways and scaffolding in mind.
